Filmmakers have used the intricate and vast waterways, towns, farms, and fields of the California Delta for shooting locations for more than 100 years. From the 1916 silent Jim Bledso, filmed in Rio Vista, to the 1939 The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, All the Kings Men, Bound for Glory, Delta Fever and On the Road, filmed partially at Strange Cargo in Locke, the list goes on and on.

Join us on Tuesday, April 16, at 7 pm as movie critic and film historian Matias Bombal offers intriguing insights about many of the silent movies, wildlife documentaries, and contemporary classics, that were filmed here.

Matias began working in exhibition, operating classic movie theatres with repertory programming in the early 1980’s. He has been involved in film and audio restoration as well as the revival of old movie palaces. In addition to a weekly 10-minute movie review segment on KAHI Radio in Northern California, he has made three documentary films and hosts Matias Bombal’s Hollywood, presenting reviews of current cinema now playing or coming soon to a theatre near you.
