June 21 General Membership Meeting

Kingdom of Ends: American Mission in Bongo

Sarah Sheffielda twenty something idealistic post-grad student, starts her career in the tropics of central Africa, hoping this year abroad at the American Mission will help her make choices about life and love.

This novel is set against one of the most significant post-Vietnam US-Soviet proxy battles in central Africa. It is the Cold War period of the 1980’s, and there are clear signs that both the Soviet Union and the U.S. have tired of the effort.

Please join us for the June Membership Meeting. We will be spotlighting one of our newer members, Jenny Sheridan. Jenny’s novel “Kingdom of Ends - American Mission in Bongo’ was inspired by her time working in central Africa for USAID as a development economist in the 1980’s. The story focuses on Sarah a young 20 something idealistic development economist working in Bongo for a year at the USAID mission. The backdrop of US-Soviet Union Cold War and the proxy war in neighboring Gola plays an important part in the story. Her book is available on Amazon.

Belle Coolledge Library, located at 5600 S Land Park Dr,, Sacramento is the location for the meeting on Saturday, June 21. We will be meeting at 3:30 PM

Plan to join our members following the meeting as we enjoy a meal together at a nearby restaurant.
